Recycling

Recycling is an important environmental issue that can help reduce waste, conserve resources, and protect the planet. Despite its benefits, many communities still struggle with low recycling rates and contamination issues. According to the EPA, in 2018, only 32.1% of the total waste generated in the United States was recycled, while the rest ended up in landfills or incinerators. This highlights the need for increased education and awareness about recycling practices and the impact of waste on the environment.

Recycling also plays a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as it requires less energy to recycle materials than to extract new ones. Additionally, recycling can create jobs and support local economies through the development of recycling facilities and the sale of recycled materials.
