"Several trees have died around the creek by the tennis courts, and this will help fill the void," said Berkley Squires, Parks and Rec/Public Services Director. JOIN US APRIL 26th!

We Love Homewood Day
MAY 4, 2024 Homewood Environmental Commission will have a table information on what we do along with activities for kids!
Homewood’s annual community celebration features a parade, a 5K run, and an array of festivities at Central Park, including inflatables, rides, and activities suitable for all ages. The Homewood High School Band and a DJ will entertain attendees with a midday pep rally/concert and interactive music at the Central Park amphitheater and stage. Additionally, a Vendor Expo showcases up to 40 crafters, businesses, and civic groups, offering items for sale and information for participants.

Magic City Harvest is a non-profit organization based in Birmingham, Alabama, that seeks to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in the area. They work to rescue surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, and other sources, and distribute it to those in need through partner agencies. Magic City Harvest also provides education on nutrition and healthy eating, and advocates for policies that support food security in the community.

The "Love Your Trees" event in Homewood, AL, is a community initiative dedicated to celebrating and nurturing the local urban forest through educational activities and hands-on tree care. It brings together residents of all ages to learn about the importance of trees in their environment and to participate in activities that support tree health and growth.
Salamander Festival
Salamander Festival, a fun, educational community event for the whole family honoring Homewood’s own spotted salamander migration. Like sea turtles, they come out once a year to reproduce and migrate back to safety. Learn more by Contacting Friends of Shades Creek.
